Car Shopping

  • Jan. 14th, 2007 at 6:32 PM

So the husband and I have been discussing trading in our Jeep Cherokee Sport for a more baby-friendly car. We bought our car used almost two years ago from a couple who just had a baby and realized they couldn't properly sit a car seat in the back. So in prepartion for the little one, we've been looking. Possibly a Nissan Ultima, Volkswagon Passat wagon or an Acura MDX. If any of you have purchased one of these, or even a different bub-friendly car - I'd love to hear about it!
Also I've decided I should start reading up on some baby literature. Any baby books you recommend? I don't want to read too many in fear of confusing myself with contradicting books. Of course, this one seems like a classic: "What To Expect When You're Expecting"

An Australian friend of mine recommended this one, but it has a lot of English references I am not sure if I'll understand. For example the title "Up the Duff" means you're pregnant.

Also, did anyone order a subscription to a baby magazine, such as "Fit Pregnancy" - I am a magazine addict but wasn't sure if there was anything useful or worth reading. Hope everyone else has tomorrow off for Martin Luther King Day - unfortunately I do not! :(

Sick Day

Not feeling so good today - of course the day I decide that I need to start exercising again I get a massive head cold and my eyes won't stop watering. I started taking prenatal vitamins and those things are loaded with vitamin c and zinc...you'd think it would have boosted my immune system! Must have been due to lack of sleep on new years.

Another unexpected result of getting ready for baby - I went off the pill a few months ago to get it out of my system. All of the sudden, my skin keeps breaking out! Anyone else experience this? I had been on the pill since college (sad to say that was 7 years ago!) and apparently it must have been keeping my skin clear all those years! Oh well - it will all be worth it!

Well I am staying home today to try and get better - at least that means I get to watch Giada De Laurentiis for some dinner ideas! Of course every time I watch that show I want to buy another kitchen gadget. Two Giada-inspired gifts that I got for Christmas were:

First Go

  • Dec. 31st, 2006 at 4:41 PM

Here's my first go at a post on Live Journal! I've traveled over here from The Knot and WC. I used to frequent those sites when I was planning my wedding. I sort of dropped off for a while, but I found the folks there to be friendly and very helpful (I was planning my wedding from overseas at the time!). Now that my husband and I have decided to try and have a little one, I thought it might be useful to journal with others who are also experiencing this life-changing adventure! We're hoping to be parents-to-be by the spring of 2007 - hence the "mere printemps" username which if I remember my high school french correctly means "spring mum." Look forward to blogging with you! Have a happy new year!
